LISTENING ACTIVITY

Hi students, here is the listenting activity of the 3rd trimester. 
Again, another crazy history teacher explains the life of Louis XIV, the king of France during part of 17th and 18th century, and the most representative of Absolute Monarchy: the style of policy during the Baroque Age, as you know.  

That time it is without subtitles, but you could understand the topic, because he repeats the things at least twice, and he emphasizes the answer of some questions, pay attention to that. Moreover, it appears some images, content written and some clues in the speach. 



The task is easy: LISTEN TO THE MAN AND ANSWER THE QUESTIONS WRITTEN BELLOW.

1. How is known Lous XIV? Why?

2. When did Louis become king? Who did help him during his minority?
3. What does it mean "I am the state"?  
4. What were the three principles of Louis XIV?
5. How was the relationship between nobles and the king?
6.  How did Louis XIV to obtain more money?

Hi students, it has been a long time since the last listening activity. So, it´s the hour for doing. 
Here, there is a very iteresting video about the Renaissance made by a crazy english speaker teacher. Thanks God, the subtitles are in spanish, because, he speaks so quickly. 
I recommend you  listening to it and then, answer the questions bellow. 


I think and hope you can understand much better this historical event, which changed the thinking world during centuries. Moreover, it had a huge influence along  to the new THE MODERN AGE. 



Remember: Fun and study not  always  go separated.

1) Why the "Renaissance" has this name? 
2) How was the Renaissance art? Describe some of its characteristics.
3)When and where  the origin of Renaissance was?
4)Why that territory was well-prepared for the development?

6) Who were the Medicci? Where they were from? Why they were so important?
7) Write at least the name of 4 Renaissance men, and describe why each one is so important. Look for information on Internet if it is necessary. 
8) What are the Renaissance's characteristics according to the video?

9) What do you think that the speaker want to mean when he says: "The renaissance never happened"?

1. Look at this Romanesque sculpture of the Pantocrator and answer the questions.

b)What character can you see in the Tympanum? Describe his appearance. What is he doing with his hands? 
c) Is the expression on his face serious or happy?
d) What creatures sorround the central figure? What  are represented each one? 


2. Are these sentences true or false? Correct the false ones in your notebook. 

- Feudal lords were vassals of the peasants.
- Feudal lords could be nobles or ecclesiastics.
- Feudal society was divided into the privileged and the non-privileged.

3. Choose one of the following characters from the feudal age: feudal lord, wife of a lord, monk, knight or peasant. Write a short description of a day in your life. The things that you do, the thinks that you are obligated to do, how do you feel in your social group of the pyramid system?

F. Ex: I am Robert Baratheon, the king of Winterfell, My life is very confortable, but quite boring, i feel really good with my position in the feudal pyramid system because I´m at the top of it. I just have to look for nobles who could protect me and help me in the crusades against the muslism. Today I´ve been in a tournament and one of my knights have won it. Later, I´ve taken a nup and I´ve eaten for dinner a huge salmon. It´s really easy the life from my high position because everyone has to obey me.
