Hi I am Angel Villacastin and I thin that the most interesting is the battle of Guadalete.
In 711 a Berber armie contrated by Agila crossed the Gibraltar Strait and they defeated King Rodrigo. In this moment Muslims started their conquesr in the Iberian Peninsula.
Agila called to berbers because he fought with Rodrigo for the crown and he lose, he wanted a revange and colled to Berbers, Muslims.

I'm Laura Lixi from 2ºA. The thing "More interesting for my is the Ramadan"
It consist:Muslims honor the time when they believe God revealed the first verses of the Koran.
It is the month in wich all Muslims atone and seek nearness to Allah.
They have to do a ritual that consist in:
They can't eat during the morning, they only can eat when the sun is hid.
And for my, it's interesting why the muslims pray loocking the Mecca.
They pray loocking the Mecca because in Arabia you can find a cube that it's called Kaba.
That the Muslims think that in that cube there's the rests of a God.

Hi I´m Sara Mayor from 2ºA, here I leave this legend of the Alhambra name, because its very interesting and I did´t know until now.
ALHAMBRA NAME
The name by which this monument is known, ALHAMBRA, comes from a muslim word which means "Red Fortress". However, there is historical evidence that the appearance of the Alhambra was a gleaming white. Therefore, what is the reason became known as Red Fortress? The reason is accepted by historians in their hasty construction. Because of this rush, there were many workers who intervened, and the red color came from its axes shining in the sun. Also, at night bonfires were lit to illuminate the construction work, which also gave a reddish for whom observase from the Vega of Granada look.

As you know, the islam is one of the most important religion nowadays. And it has more followers that any religion, that´s the reason why i have considered necessary to create a PowerPoint presentation. That´s not exam´s matter, it´s just for you to see in your free time. I hope it´ll be interesting for you.
If you want you can voluntarily do the excercises below and send me by email:
1) In which countries the islam is the official religion? Make a list with the names of the countries.
2) What´s the european countries with more muslims?
3) Find out how many Muslims there are in the world today
4) How many Muslims there are in Spain? Where do the majority come from? Where they settle down?

THE MOST IMPORTANT CELEBRITY IN THE AL- ANDALUS´ HISTORY
CHILDHOOD AND YOUTH OF ABD-AL-RAHMAN I.
He was born near Damascus in Syria, Abd al-Rahman, was the son of the Umayyad prince Mu'awiyah ibn Hisham and a Berber concubine. He was twenty when his family, the ruling Umayyads, were overthrown by a popular revolt known as the Abbasid Revolution, occurring in the year 750. Abd al-Rahman and a small selection of his family fled Damascus, where the center of Umayyad power had been.
Abd al-Rahman quit the village narrowly escaping the Abbasid assassins. Abd al-Rahman continued south through Palestine, the Sinai, and then into Egypt. Abd al-Rahman had to keep a low profile as he traveled. It may be assumed that he intended to go at least as far as northwestern Africa (Maghreb), the land of his mother, which had been partly conquered by his Umayyad predecessors. The journey across Egypt would prove perilous. At that time, the governor of Ifriqiya (muslim province of north africa) was a former Umayyad client. The governor broke openly with the Abbasids and invited Abd al Rahman to take refuge in his dominions. In 755 Abd-al-Rahman reached north Africa, near Ceuta. The next step would be to cross the sea to Al Andalus.
Among the arabs of Al Andalus there were former Umayyad clients. Some berber tribes joined Abd al Rahman to cross the mediterranean sea. In september 755 Abd al Rahman landed in Almuñecar. News about the prince's arrival spread throughout the peninsula. Abd al Rahman defeated the abbasid governor and proclaimed himself emir of Al Andalus.
In 763 Abd al Rahman had to fight against an abbasid army which had invaded Al Andalus. Finally, Abd al Rahman defeated the army that the abbasid caliph had sent to Al Andalus.
In 784 Abd al Rahman ordered the construction of a mosque in Cordoba. In that place there was a Christian Church, so he purchased the building and demolished. The newmosque was close to the palace of the emir.
